Floating Field by Helen Maurer

Exhibition dates: until 4 October 2022

Venue: All Hallows by the Tower, Byward Street, London EC3R 5BJ

Artist: Helen Maurer

In early 2022 A+C facilitated All Hallows by the Tower to create a community art installation, Floating Field, suspended in the nave of the church, with with artist Helen Maurer. It consists of 70 hanging mobiles carrying handmade flowers together with prayers written by all who took part from the congregation and community of All Hallows, local businesses and organisations, and the many people who visit day by day. The flowers help to focus the viewer’s mind on their own relationship to the natural world and stewardship of God's creation. Floating Field will remain in church as we mark the church's Season of Creation (1 Sep – 4 Oct), the time in the annual church calendar dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life.

“Thank you very much indeed for the introduction to Helen. She was so nice to work with – very thoughtful, calm and unflappable and just kept on smiling and encouraging people who contributed.” Sophia Acland, Associate Vicar, All Hallows by the Tower
